What is a Pareto chart?

A Pareto chart is one of the 7 QC tools. It arranges category values in descending order and simultaneously displays a bar chart and a cumulative percentage line chart. It is also used for ABC analysis to quickly identify the most important factors.

How do I sort the data?

Rows do not move while you are entering data. Pressing the "Apply / Sort" button sorts them in descending order and applies them to the preview.

How is the cumulative percentage calculated?

Using the total of the bar values as the denominator and the running total from the top as the numerator, it calculates (cumulative / total * 100) and displays it on the right axis from 0 to 100%.

Can I enter category names and values in bulk?

From "Bulk Input," you can paste and import a 2-column table (label, value). After importing, the data goes into the edit fields, so press "Apply / Sort" to reflect it in the preview.

Can I display an 80% reference line?

The right Y-axis uses fixed gridlines at 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100, so 80% can always be shown. From the chart style settings, you can show/hide the "80% reference line" and change its color.

Can I display ABC analysis bands?

Accepted Answer

When you enable ABC analysis in the chart style, vertical bands are displayed based on the cumulative percentage thresholds (%) for A/B/C. You can change the colors and opacity.

In the "Chart Style" panel, you can change the bar label, line label, and colors.

What is the difference from other charts?

A bar chart simply displays values, but a Pareto chart visualizes "what percentage of the whole is reached at each point" using the cumulative percentage line, the 80% reference line, and ABC bands.

How can I save the chart as an image?

Click the "Download Image" button below the preview area to download your chart in PNG/JPEG/SVG format with your chosen quality. If you want to change the aspect ratio, drag the handle at the bottom-right corner of the preview frame to adjust it.

Is there an auto-save feature?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there is. Your chart data is saved automatically to your browser's local storage. When you reload the page, or close and reopen your browser, you can restore the saved data. You can also revert to the default data by pressing the reset button at the top-right of the data input area. Local storage data is saved only in your browser and is not shared with other users. If local storage is disabled in your browser settings, the auto-save feature will not work. Clearing your browser cache will also delete the saved data.

How do I save my data temporarily?

Click the "Save & Publish Chart" button below the preview area to temporarily save your chart. You can re-edit it later using the URL and password issued when you saved it. You can also publish the chart publicly via URL.

How do I load saved data?

You can load a chart using the "Resume from Saved Data" button. When loading, enter the URL and password issued when you saved it.

Can I bulk-enter data via CSV or copy & paste?

Accepted Answer

Open the dialog from the "Bulk Input" button, then copy and paste from a spreadsheet/Excel or an HTML table, or select a CSV file. Please check the screen for what to enter in each row and column. After pasting, edit it in the preview and click "Confirm & Apply" to reflect it in the chart.
