What is an organization chart?

An organization chart is a diagram that visually represents the structure, positions, departments, and their relationships within a company or organization. It lets you grasp the chain of command at a glance, such as who holds which position and who works under whom. It is useful for explaining the structure to new employees and for sharing the organizational layout internally and externally.

Adding nodes: You can add new nodes using the "Add root node" or "Add subordinate" buttons in the sidebar. When you select a node and click "Add subordinate," a child node of the selected node is added. Editing nodes: You can edit the name, position, department, email, phone number, and more by double-clicking a node or via the "Edit details" button in the sidebar. Creating connections (lines): Drag the handle (●) on the bottom of a node and connect it to the top handle of another node to create a connecting line. Deleting: Select a node or connecting line and delete it with the Delete key or the Delete button in the sidebar. Moving and zooming: Drag on the canvas to move, and scroll while holding Ctrl to zoom.

Accepted Answer

You can choose from 5 designs in the "Design Templates" section of the sidebar. Simple: a standard design with a clean blue header Modern: a refined design accented with purple Flat: a simple flat design Dark: a dark theme Green: a fresh green-toned design You can switch templates at any time. Your data is preserved as is.

Are there structure templates (sample data)?

Yes. By selecting "Start from a structure template" in the "Layout Templates" section of the sidebar, you can load the following sample organization charts. General company (hierarchical): a standard corporate org chart with 4 levels: president, executives, department managers, and section managers Startup (flat): a flat startup org chart with CEO, CTO, CFO, CMO, etc. Project team: an org chart for a cross-functional team centered on a PM Departmental org chart: a detailed organizational structure within a specific department * Loading a template overwrites the current data.

What is automatic layout?

When you press the "Automatic Layout" button, nodes are arranged hierarchically from top to bottom based on their connections. It is handy when you want to neatly arrange your org chart after manually placing it. You can still freely drag and move nodes after automatic layout.

How do I save the organization chart I created?

Accepted Answer

There are two saving methods. Auto-save feature: Your work is automatically saved to your browser's local storage, so you can resume editing even after closing the page, as long as you use the same browser. JSON file: Click the "Export as JSON" button in the sidebar to save all of the org chart's data in JSON format. You can later import this file to resume editing. Alternatively, you can download it as an image (PNG, JPEG, SVG) from the download icon in the top right.

Can I change the size of a node?

Yes. When you select a node, resize handles appear at the four corners. Drag them to freely adjust the node's size.

Can I undo?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can undo with Ctrl+Z (Mac: Cmd+Z) and redo with Ctrl+Y (or Ctrl+Shift+Z). There are also Undo and Redo buttons in the toolbar at the top right.

Is there an auto-save feature?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there is. Your chart data is saved automatically to your browser's local storage. When you reload the page, or close and reopen your browser, you can restore the saved data. You can also revert to the default data by pressing the reset button at the top-right of the data input area. Local storage data is saved only in your browser and is not shared with other users. If local storage is disabled in your browser settings, the auto-save feature will not work. Clearing your browser cache will also delete the saved data.
